Question: Can I be a Muslim and follow Buddhist teachings or is that haram?
As a Muslim, you are committed to following the laws of Islam, including its essential beliefs and practices. You cannot be a Muslim and Buddhist at the same time.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the seal of prophets and therefore, he has come to confirm the pristine faith revealed to all prophets. The Qur'an proclaims itself as the final revelation; it has been sent to preserve the original truths revealed earlier, which had been tampered with by the followers of previous prophets and messengers.
Therefore,  you cannot be a Muslim while practicing the teachings of Buddha.
