Question: Assalamualaikum Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.I am currently pregnant and will not be able to fast this Ramadaan. I was wondering if Fidaya is valid if given to a non-Muslim poor person.
Answer:

According to the preferred view of scholars, the fidya, in lieu of fasting of Ramadhan, should be given to the poor Muslims, for one of its purposes is to help them provide for themselves during the month of fasting. Therefore, you should give it to the poor Muslims who are fasting. If, however, you are unable to find any Muslims in your area, then you should channel the funds elsewhere to them.

I pray to Allah to bless us all to reap the maximum benefits of Ramadhan.
