Question: I heard that in Islam women are not allowed to attend funerals. is this true?
Answer:

There is no clear evidence in the Qur'an, or the authentic traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) to prohibit women from attending the funerals, although this is often the 'standard interpretation' of some scholars and assumed to be the only 'correct' one.

However, on a closer study of the sources, and evidence presented, there is no reason to uphold this view. In the absence of any explicit prohibition, the original rule of permission holds.
